Chinese CNOOC Starts Production from Indonesian Offshore Gas Field

The BP gas field in Indonesia has commenced production, Chinese CNOOC said July 31.

The BD gas field is located in Madura Strait at a water depth of approximately 55 metres. Main production facilities included one unmanned wellhead platform, one FPSO and four production wells. Currently, the gas field has two wells in production and its gas and condensate sales production is approximately 7,200 barrels of oil equivalent/d.

The gas field is expected to reach its overall development program designed peak production of approximately 25,500 boe/d in 2018.

Husky-CNOOC Madura (HCML) is the operator of the production sharing contract for the BD gas field. Husky and CNOOC each hold a 40% interest in HCML, while the remaining 20% interest is held by Samudra Energy.
