Chinese gas demand up 19% in June
China’s gas consumption in June was 29.44bn m3, up 19.2% year/year, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said on July 30.
The consumption during the first six months of the year (H1) was 182.7bn m3, up 17.4% yr/yr, the NDRC said. China’s natural gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG in H1 were up 23.8% yr/yr to 59.81mn metric tons, according to customs department data published earlier this month.
Chinese gas consumption has been robust in recent months due to recovery in economic activity which was disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
