CIMC SOE launches LNG-fuelled LEG carrier

CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMIC SOE), a shipbuilding company in Nantong, China, has launched a new 7,200 m3 LNG dual-fuel liquid ethylene gas (LEG) carrier for German Hartmann Group, it said on October 16.

The ship is classified by DNV classification society and has a total length of about 116 meters and a width of 18 meters. It uses MAN dual-fuel main engine.

The new LEG transport ship is designed to meet the latest emission requirements and significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions during transportation, CIMIC said. It is also equipped with a number of other features that make it more environmentally friendly, such as a ballast water treatment system and a waste water treatment system.

The ship is expected to be delivered to Hartmann Group in early 2024.
