CNOOC Inks LNG Supply Deal with Guangdong Shipping
Chinese state-run CNOOC has signed an agreement with Guangdong Shipping Group for the supply of LNG to 50 LNG-fuelled ships that will be built by China State Shipbuilding Corp, CNOOC said on March 12.
Guangdong Shipping on the same day signed an agreement with China State Shipbuilding for the design and construction of these 50 LNG-fuelled ships. China State Shipbuilding will build 25 ships of 2,000-dwt capacity and 25 ships of 3,000-dwt capacity, CNOOC said.

The first of these 50 ships is scheduled to be delivered by March 2022. CNOOC expects that by 2024, Guangdong province will have approximately 1,500 LNG-powered ships and 19 LNG bunkering stations. This will help in the gasification of the Pearl River, CNOOC said.
After the project's completion, demand for marine LNG will be approximately 400,000 metric tons/year, the company added.
