Cnooc's Shenzhen Terminal to Receive First Cargo Next Month

China’s Cnooc Gas and Power, a unit of state-owned Cnooc, July 13 said that Shenzhen LNG terminal will receive its first cargo next month.

In August, Shenzhen LNG terminal will welcome the first ship and become operational, Cnooc Gas and Power said in a statement posted on its website. The company added that the terminal will enhance natural gas supply in winter to Shenzhen and other areas of north China. Shenzhen LNG terminal will have a capacity of 4mn mt/yr. It was originally scheduled to come online in 2015.

Last month, Cnooc Gas and Power said it has commenced work on a pipeline to connect Shenzhen LNG terminal with Dapeng LNG terminal. The pipeline is about 1.2 km long and will be completed by end-September 2018.

Dapeng is the first import terminal to be built in China. Its present capacity is 7.7mn mt/yr and the terminal is supplying 45mn m3/d of gas to cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Huizhou, Dongguan, Foshan and Hong Kong through the 441 km pipeline.
