Cnooc's Tianjin Terminal Achieves Milestone

Cnooc Gas and Power’s Tianjin LNG import terminal has for the first time received 1mn metric tons of LNG during the first quarter of the year.

The terminal, located in Tianjin prefecture in northeastern China, March 5 successfully received the vessel Mickie Harper which was carrying 73,400 metric tons of LNG, Cnooc Gas and Power said the same day. With the arrival of this cargo, Tianjin has received more than 1mn mt of LNG since the start of this year. The terminal has received a total of 8.25mn mt of LNG since it became operational in 2013.

Cnooc Gas and Power, a subsidiary of state-owned Cnooc, is building additional tanks at Tianjin. It will build six 220,000 m3 LNG storage tanks, 12 gasifiers, 12 high-pressure pumps and three low-temperature compressors and ancillary facilities, the company said in May. The project will be partially operational in 2021 and will be fully ready in 2022. Tianjin terminal is expected to have 7.25mn mt/yr LNG processing capacity by 2030, up for 3.21mn mt/yr in 2018.
