CNPC, Shell to Work in the Field of Unconventional Hydrocarbons, LNG
CNPC and Shell signed cooperation agreement according to which the two companies will strengthen long-term worldwide cooperation in unconventional resources like shale gas, deep water, LNG, and upstream and downstream businesses.
“Both agree to take soft power as an integral part in various fields of cooperation, and to promote the strategic partnership between the two sides to a higher level,” CNPC said in a statement.
Shell is already working with CNPC in the field of shale gas. In 2012, the Chinese energy major and Shell signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for shale gas exploration, development and production in the Fushun-Yongchuan block in the Sichuan Basin, China.
CNPC Vice President Wang Dongjin and PetroChina Vice President Bo Qiliang attended the meeting and the signing ceremony.
