CNPC to Develop Uzbek Gas Field
CNPC is expected to begin developing the Vostochniy Alat gas condensate field in central Uzbekistan's Bukhara-Khiva region this year. Some reports suggest, the exersice will cost $150 million in the first three years.
Vostochniy Alat is located in the Karakul (Qarakul) Block, one of five blocks that CNPC signed exploration agreements for with Uzbekistan's state gas company Uzbekneftegaz in June 2006.
CNPC established a wholly-owned Uzbek subsidiary named CNPC Silk Road Group for the projects in December 2006. In June 2010, Uzbekneftegaz signed a framework agreement with CNPC for the sale and purchase of 10 bcm of gas.
