Condor makes progress in Uzbek gas field enhancement
Canada’s Condor Energies said December 19 it was making progress in its ongoing eight-field gas production enhancement project in Uzbekistan, with output from the eight fields up 13% so far in December from the Q3 2024 average.
Two workover rigs and a wireline unit are already operating in the fields, with a third rig and second wireline unit expected to arrive in early 2025. Condor signed a heads of agreement with the Uzbek government in May 2023 to carry out the enhancement programme, and well workovers began in June this year.
So far in December, production from the fields is averaging 11,354 barrels of oil equivalent (boe)/day – about 68.1mn ft3/day of natural gas – despite production being restricted for one day due to downstream infrastructure maintenance at non-operated facilities. Production in Q3 2024 averaged just over 60mn ft3/day, or 10,010 boe/day.
“In just under 10 months, we’ve reversed a 20% annual production decline rate and increased production volumes using various capital efficient proven Western technologies,” Condor CEO Don Streu said. “We continue to be very pleased with the early results of our workover and facility enhancement programmes, which were performed with no lost time incidents.”
Condor has also placed orders for long lead time items such as tubulars and is inspecting potential drilling rigs for a multi-well horizontal and drilling campaign expected to begin in Q2 2025.
