Congo, Eni Discuss Role of Gas in the Economy
The President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and Eni’s CEO, Paolo Scaroni, discussed about the Italian firm’s activities in the country, recent Nenè Marine discovery and discussed the role that gas will play in the economic and industrial development of the country.
Earlier this month, Eni annoumced that it has found oil and gas in the Nene’ Marine exploration prospect located in the Marine XII Block offshore Congo.
The company estimates the volume of the discovery proved with the 2 wells so far drilled at around 600 million barrels of oil and 700 Billion cubic feet of gas in place.
The meeting was also the occasion to communicate the award of a block of over 16,000 sq. kilometres, located in the Cuvette Basin, to the joint venture made of the national company SNPC and Eni (operator).
