Contract for Iran-Oman Gas Pipeline Feasibility Study to Be Awarded Soon

Tehran will award contract for feasibility study on building gas pipeline to Oman with ten days, state owned Shana News reported Saturday.

“The Iranian consultant has been selected and legal procedures are underway for handing over the contract on the feasibility studies on the project to lay the 400-kilometer land-sea pipeline from Iran to Oman,” Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Alireza Kameli told Shana.

Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) was selected as the consultant for the Iran-Oman gas pipeline in June this year.

The 400-kilometer pipeline, stretching from Mubarak Mountain to Sohar Port, is defined in two onshore and offshore sections.

Studies on both onshore and offshore sections of the pipeline will be conducted simultaneously to avoid any disruption in the implementation of the project.

Iran and Oman in 2013 signed a deal under which Tehran will export 28 mcm/d of gas to its neighbour through a subsea pipeline for 15 years.
