COOEC wins EPCIC contract for Shew gas field phase 4 in Myanmar

China’s state-owned COOEC Offshore Oil Engineering Co. has secured the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Shwe gas field Phase 4 development in Myanmar, the company announced on July 23.

The Shwe gas field Phase 4 development project is operated by South Korea’s Posco International. As the general contractor, COOEC will handle project management, detailed design, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and pre-commissioning.

COOEC initially won the bid for the competitive front-end engineering design of the project in September 2023. The Shwe gas field is part of a cluster of fields located in the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Myanmar’s western Rakhine state.
