CRI: Ukraine Seeks to Block South Stream Pipeline Project

Ukraine is seeking to block the planned South Stream gas pipeline project which was designed to bypass the country, an official of the European Energy Community has said.

The EEC has received a letter from Ukraine's Energy Minister Yuri Boyko, which requested not to agree on the construction of South Stream, the Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper on Friday quoted EEC Secretariat director Slavcho Neykov said as saying. 

Neykov said the Energy Community welcomes the development of projects that can contribute to the diversification and security of energy supply although Ukraine, as an EEC member, has the right to expect support from the secretariat.  MORE
