Dalje.com: PM says Croatia has its interests within frameworks of EU energy policy
Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on the southern Croatian island of Brac on Sunday that his government would not be dragged into skirmishing between Washington and Moscow concerning the South Stream gas pipeline project, adding that Croatia, as a member of the European Union, minds its business and interests within the framework of the EU energy policy.
Asked about Croatia's position on the South Stream project, the PM said Croatia was not directly involved, as only an annex of the South Stream runs through Croatia.
"The European Commission is not against South Stream, but it is not among its priorities as this was a pipeline that grants a favourable position to a single supplier. Croatia missed its chance seven or eight years ago when the then government refused talks with the Russians. In the meantime, the plans for the pipeline have been drawn up and it does not run through Croatia.
