Lucid Energy commissions Permian cryogenic plant

A processing plant for natural gas liquids went into service using New Mexico shale as a feedstock, gas processor Lucid Energy said March 23.

Lucid announced it commissioned its Red Hills V cryogenic plant in the Delaware shale basin, a reservoir within the greater Permian shale. Lucid’s acreage is situated in counties in New Mexico the company says has the most active drilling rigs in the nation.

The plant has a total processing capacity of 230mn ft3/day and brings Lucid’s total processing capacity in the Delaware basin to 1.2bn ft3/day.

“We are thrilled to commission Red Hills V and will continue to provide superior service to our customers as they develop the prolific northern Delaware Basin,” Lucid CEO Mike Latchem said.

Over the last four years, Lucid brought five gas processing plants into service, a footprint the company said makes it one of the more prolific midstream players in the broader Permian shale.

The US Energy Information Administration predicts gas production from the Permian will increase marginally next month. After the Appalachian shale, Permian is the largest US gas producer.
