The Czech Republic has enough gas reserves to last through spring if Putin shuts supply
Czech buyers would not be immediately endangered by a potential shortfall in supplies of Russian gas, over 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas are in the storage tanks, which corresponds to gas consumption in the spring months, Czech Gas Association (ČPS) reps told ČTK.
The Czech Republic could feel the impacts of potential limitation of Russian gas supplies to Ukraine with which Russian President Vladimir Putin threatens in a letter sent to eighteen European heads of state today.
Czech gas storage tanks are currently 37 percent full. More gas is being added into them since the beginning of April. "This shows that we are prepared for potential problems with supplies of natural gas to Europe," said CPS council's chairman Miroslav Zaur.
