Daewoo E&C Wins Tangguh Pipe Contract

Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C) has won a $50mn contract to carry out piping work for the Tangguh LNG expansion project, it said April 23 in a statement.

As per the contract, signed with the consortium undertaking the onshore engineering and construction work, Daewoo E&C will complete the piping work in the project’s cold sections 16 months after starting construction.

The Tangguh LNG expansion phase will see an addition of a third LNG processing train, a combined LNG and condensate jetty, an expanded LNG loading facility and other supporting infrastructure. The total capacity of the project will be 11.4mn metric tons/year after the addition of the 3.8mn mt/yr LNG train.

A joint venture of KBR, Indonesia’s Rekayasa Industri, Japan’s JGC Corporation and JGC Indonesia will carry out the onshore front-end engineering and design work during the expansion phase. A consortium of Indonesia’s Tripatra, Japan’s Chiyoda, Saipem and Indonesia’s Suluh Ardhi Engineering has been selected to perform onshore engineering and construction of the LNG processing train, utilities, offsites, LNG jetty and associated infrastructure.

Clough has been selected to conduct mechanical engineering studies and provide basis of design, and assistance during development, definition and procurement.

The Tangguh LNG project is operated by BP and is located in Teluk Bintuni Regency in the Papua Barat province of Indonesia.
