Daewoo Shipbuilding Wins LNG Carrier Order
South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has received an order for a 174,00 m3 LNG carrier that will be built at the Geoje Okpo Shipyard and delivered to shipowner in 2021, DSME said May 14 without disclosing the identity of the shipowner.
The vessel will feature advanced fractional re-liquefaction system which will help reduce the evaporation rate and operation costs, the company said.
With this order, DSME has won orders, worth $2.5bn, for 14 vessels this year, including five LNG carriers, six super crude oil carriers and three submarines.
