Dart to Look for CSG in Riverina Region of New South Wales
Dart Energy has expressed interest in investigating for coal seam gas in the Riverina region of New South Wales. An application for 'petroleum special prospecting authority' has been lodged with the state government and would be valid for 12 months.
The company has zeroed in on an area stretching from Albury to Parkes and would centre its operation in Cootamundra, media reports have said.
This aforementioned application only allows for minimal on-ground exploration and drilling cannot take place, but is a potential precursor to mining for CSG in the region.
Successful results from initial investigation may pave way for large scale exploration which would require further state government approval.
Dart Energy currently holds seven exploration licences in NSW but isn't at the production stage anywhere in Australia.
