DMG Postpones Global Energy Show

DMG Events has postponed its flagship Global Energy Show (GES) in Calgary to June 2021 in response to lockdowns surrounding the global Covid-19 pandemic, it said April 7.

The annual tradeshow and conference was set to host 53,000 local and international delegates from more than 110 countries in the second week of June; in 2019, it was Canada’s largest business-to-business tradeshow.

“The decision to postpone was not taken lightly,” said Nick Samain, DMG’s vice president of energy. “The health and wellbeing of our delegates, stakeholders and staff is of paramount importance.”

The GES is produced by the Canadian division of London-based DMG Events. The corporate parent moved last week to postpone all of its global events that were originally scheduled through to the end of August.

To help fill the gap in its platforms, DMG will introduce conference and exhibition content in digital format starting this April. Global policymakers, industry innovators and energy CEOs will host discussions on topics which include energy investment in the post-pandemic world, long-term sustainable energy solutions and building resilience in technology, innovation and partnerships.

“During this crucial time, it is imperative for the Global Energy Show to continue to be the key platform for policymakers to host pivotal conversations for the industry,” Samain said. “In a world of change, robust leadership will be needed to address the complex demands and changing landscape of energy transition.”
