DNO Makes Minor Find off Norway

A minor oil and gas discovery has been made near the Heidrun field in the Norwegian Sea, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) reported on December 13.

A wildcat well, drilled by local operator DNO at production licence 888, struck a 52-metre gas column and a four-metre oil column, the NPD said in a statement. Preliminary estimates place the find’s size at 1-2mn cubic metres of recoverable oil equivalent.

This is the first well at licence 888, which DNO was awarded in a 2016 licensing round. The company’s partners are ConocoPhillips and Norwegian firm Wellesley Petroleum.
