Dominion continues work restoring US power
US energy firm Dominion Energy reported on January 5 that it had made "strong progress" in restoring power to around 330,000 of its nearly 400,000 customers affected by a winter storm that has swept through Virginia.
"Crews are continuing work overnight to restore customers, with some outage restorations extending into Thursday," Dominion said. "Preparations are already underway for more inclement weather expected to move through parts of Virginia on Thursday night."

Dominion said almost 4,800 of its workers and contractors were involved in the restoration effort, as well as 900 mutual aid workers from nine states.
"Areas around Charlottesville and Fredericksburg have been particularly affected by this event where damage is the most severe and road conditions are challenging and , in some cases, impassable," the company said. "Crews will continue restoration around the clock until all customers have service restored."
The company warned that its customers should brace for potential additional power outages during the expected storm on the night of January 6.
Dominion serves around 7mn customers in 13 states with power and natural gas.
