ENAP, Mitsui to Build Two Gas Fueled Power Plants in Chile

Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (ENAP) and Japan’s Mitsui & Co have agreed develop two natural gas power generation projects.

Chilean state owned ENAP said Wednsday that the two plants will have a combined installed capacity of some 1,200 megawatts.

The two plants Luz Minera (Mejillones) and Nueva Era (Concón) will be part of the power generation portfolio of ENAP to participate in the public tenders for the supply of electric power to residential consumers between 2016 and 2018.

Luz Minera power plant has an installed capacity of 760 MW, while Nueva ERA power plant has an installed capacity of 510 MW. The estimated investment totals an amount of more than $1.3 billion.
