Engie Launches New Green Bond

French Engie has launched a €1.5bn ($1.7bn) green bond to finance green projects in the area of renewable energy and energy services, it said June 19. It brings the total outstanding amount of its green bonds to €8.75bn, making Engie the largest corporate issuer of green bonds, it said.

The issue has been made in two equal tranches of €750mn for eight and 20 years, the short term at 0.375% and the long term at 1.375%.

CFO Judith Hartmann said Engie was reconciling its long-term vision with the financial objectives of investors and that green bonds were an essential lever as clients moved to a zero-carbon future.
