Eni CEO pens low carbon deals with Kazakhstan
Italian energy major Eni has signed cooperation agreements with Kazakhstan's state-owned KazMunayGas (KMG) on potential joint projects in the central Asian country in the fields of renewables, hydrogen and bio-feedstocks, the companies said on July 26.
Eni is a major investor in Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, first entering the country in 1992. It is a shareholder in the onshore Karachaganak gas condensate field and the offshore Kashagan oilfield, two of Kazakhstan's largest upstream projects, and it also agreed to joint exploration work with KMG at two other sites in the Caspian Sea in 2018.

In addition, Eni launched the 48-MW Badamsha wind farm in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region last year and is in the process of expanding the facility. In March this year it also broke ground on a 50-MW solar plant in the country's south.
The latest agreements were announced during a meeting between Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi, Kazakh president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Kazakh prime minister Askar Mamin.
