Eni Starts Production in Egypt’s Nile Delta
Italy-based Eni started production from its offshore DEKA Project in Egypt at a gas rate of 1.8 million cubic meters per day and associated condensates of about 800 barrels per day.
‘The project’s peak production is expected by 1Q 2015 with a total gross gas rate of about 6.5 million cubic meters per day,’ reads a note released on Thursday.
Eni holds a 50% working interest in the Temsah Concession, in the offshore Nile Delta. This specific project envisages the development of gas discoveries through 5 subsea wells. The gas will be processed at the El Gamil Gas Plant.
According to the company, the well is located approximately 65 Km north of Port Said, in a 100 meters water depth.
Eni is the largest energy player in the country and it is stepping up efforts to increase production in Northern Africa.
