Eni Shows Interest in CNPC's Shale Gas Block

Italy’s Eni, last week, sent its delegation to China’s Shunan area to evaluate the shale gas potential of the blocks held by CNPC, the Chinese state owned firm said on its website.

The delegation inspected the external environment of the terrain, cultural customs and water supply of the shale blocks.

The two companies are keen to work together in development of shale gas in China.

In January last year, Eni and CNPC signed an agreement to develop business opportunities in China and abroad. Eni would use its expertise on shale gas gained in North America to evaluate opportunities in unconventional resources owned by Petrochina in China.
