In Cyprus: EP Energy Committee delegation to visit Cyprus in 2015

A delegation from a European Parliament Committee which deals with energy security will visit Cyprus in September 2015 at the suggestion of MEP Neoklis Sylikiotis. He told reporters the aim was to promote Cyprus’ importance to Europe’s energy security.

The visit will take place so that the Committee can have a better understanding of energy matters in Cyprus, he said. This will help the country make a more convincing case about the importance its own and other regional hydrocarbons reserves to European energy security.

Sylikiotis also referred to another proposal he put forward which has been adopted concerning the participation of former State Hydrocarbons Company (KRETYK) President Charles Ellinas in a European Parliament hearing on November 5 on energy matters.
