Equinor shuts Veslefrikk field ahead of decommissioning

Norway's Equinor has closed down the Veslefrikk oil and gas field in the Norwegian section of the North Sea, ahead of the project's decommissioning, the company said on social media on February 19.

Commissioned in 1989, the field was closed permanently on February 17, Equinor said. The plugging of its wells began a year ago, and the field's two platforms are due to be dismantled in 2022 and 2025-26 respectively.
