Equinor Signs Safety Deals for Norwegian Ops
Equinor has signed framework agreements worth krone 5bn ($554mn) for the supply for safety and automation systems with five suppliers, the Norwegian producer said on December 16.
The five-year deals were signed with Kongsberg Marine, Siemens, ABB, Honeywell and Emerson. Three five-year options are additional, depending on the service life of installations.
The deals cover daily operation and ensure continuous maintenance, modifications and upgrading work, and Cyber security, at all Equinor’s existing offshore and offshore installations in Norway. They may also extend to the company’s international activities and new projects as well.
“We are pleased to sign new agreements with all our suppliers of safety and control systems,” Equinor’s chief procurement officer Peggy Krantz-Underland said in a statement.
She noted the deals included a new compensation mechanism, rewarding suppliers for safe and effective delivery.
“If we jointly succeed in reducing our total costs, it will benefit everyone involved in the effort,” she concluded.
The signing of the framework deals comes after an explosion at Equinor’s Heimdal platform on November 28 that resulted in two worker injuries. Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has launched a probe into the incident.
