Estonian Picked For EU Energy Job
The European Commission has appointed Estonian politician Kadri Simson as its next commissioner for energy, the EU body said on September 10.
Simson served as Estonia’s minister for economic affairs between 2016 and 2019, after spending a decade as a member of the Estonian Centre Party.
She is one of 26 new commissioners proposed by European Commission President-elect and former German defence minister Ursula von der Leyen. Pending confirmation by the European Parliament, she will start her five-year term on November 1.
