EU Brokers Meeting Between Russia and Ukraine On Cross Allegations

Officials from Russia, Ukraine and the European Union met on Monday to discuss the deliveries of Russian gas to Ukraine, after Naftogaz and Gazprom traded accusations over the last week. According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia continues to violate the Winter Package.

‘In particular, the parties will examine the breach of the Winter Package by Gazprom and the framework for further cooperation between the parties’ reads a note released in the morning by Ukraine’s Naftogaz.

Last week, the CEO of Ukraine's Naftogaz has written to his counterpart at Gazprom, detailing recent contract violations and the Russian company's failure to comply with the spirit of a trilateral agreement reached in Brussels.

“The Winter Package for Russian gas supplies to Ukraine, which was signed by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the EU last October, is a compromise for both sides. We have fulfilled our side of the deal entirely” Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev commented.
