APA: EU Commissioner: “Azerbaijan in the future can play an even greater role in the European gas market”
EU Commissioner for Energy Security Günther Oettinger said that Azerbaijan, Norway and Algeria could play an even greater role in the European gas market, APA reports.
In his interview with Welt am Sonntag, Oettinger distracted the EU member states from reducing contacts with Russia in energy sector and urged to seek for ways to diversify energy supply.
The EU Commissioner noted that Europe should help Ukraine in search of opportunities to pay off debts for Russian gas. Otherwise, a new “gas war” can start between Russia and the West.
