Sputnik: Proposed EU Energy Union Prioritizes Russian Gas Transit Via Ukraine

Maintaining the transit of Russian natural gas through Ukraine is a priority for the proposed European Energy Union, European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic said Tuesday.

"The EU believes it is in the interest of all parties that Ukraine remains an important transit country," Sefcovic told European lawmakers in a speech on the state of the energy union.
