EU halts probe into Qatari contracts: press
EU regulators have halted an antitrust investigation into the supply contracts of LNG exporter QatarEnergy, sources told the Financial Times on February 13.
The report comes as Brussels seeks alternatives to Russian gas supply, in the event that shipments from Gazprom are disrupted because of a possible military incursion into Ukraine by Moscow. Reuters reported at the end of January that Qatar had told the EU that the bloc would need to prevent the resale outside its borders of any emergency gas supplies it receives from QatarEnergy. The EU's probe centres on the use of such territorial restriction clauses.

According to previous reports by Reuters and others, Qatar is producing LNG at its full capacity, although it may be able to divert some gas from buyers in Asia if Europe's supply is disrupted.
