Platts: EU, member states gas policy disparity must be addressed - Ofgem CEO

The European gas market must address a disparity in policy between the EU and its member states, as well as tackle problems within European infrastructure, UK regulator Ofgem CEO Alistair Buchanan said Monday.

Buchanan told the Platts European Gas Supply and Infrastructure conference that when it came to the next move in developing European gas regulation, there was a "slow" policy train led by the EU and an 'express' one led by individual EU member states.

"Demand for gas is in huge flux, forcing local, not EU solutions. Supply of gas is a legitimate concern and raises urgent questions for member states," Buchanan said.  MORE
