Standartnews.com: EU softens its position on the South Stream, talks continue
The South Stream does not violate the European legal framework , Bulgarian Minister of Economy Dragomir Stoynev stated in Brussels on Thursday where he met EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger and European Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia.
''I presented sufficient information at the meeting with Günther Oettinger to prove that Bulgaria does not violate the European legal framework with the marine part of the South Stream'' , minister Stoynev noted. For the land section of the pipeline, we have provided the protocols signed between BEH and Gazprom following the European law , he added.
During the meeting Commissioner Oettinger has said that Russia and Gazprom are an important partner for Europe and that the project is of great importance for the supply of natural gas to Europe.
