European Gas Supply "Most Important" to Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has said that gas supply to Europe is "the most important aspect of Turkmenistan's foreign policy."

Speaking at a meeting with the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), President Berdymukhammedov said that the Trans Caspian Pipeline also remained a high priority for Turkmenistan.

"The trans-Caspian pipeline system is thus an important project that demonstrates Turkmenistan's readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation with all interested parties," he said.

Secretary General of the OSCE  Lamberto Zannier also stressed the importance of Turkmenistan as a gas supplier for Europe at a meeting in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan with President Berdymukhammedov today.

Mr. Zannier said that Europe viewed Turkmenistan as a county of critical importance for gas exports and welcomed President's Berdymukhammedov's commitment to diversify gas supplies.
