European TSOs headed in the right direction, says ENTSOG
European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) are involved in early implementation practices in issues related to the Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms (CAM NC), sending a reassuring messages one year before the code enters into force, says ENTSOG, European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas.
‘Ahead of the legal requirement, these TSOs already offer capacities on joint booking platforms. This shows that TSOs are preparing themselves seriously by identifying all requirements and challenges related to the CAM NC before it becomes mandatory,’ reads a report released by ENTSOG on Tuesday.
The 73-page report provides a strategic view on the current state of play regarding the development of join capacity booking platforms in Europe.
The report goes through the three capacity booking platforms - PRISMA European Capacity Platform (PRISMA), GSA Platform (GSA) and Regional Booking Platform (RBP) - saying that a recent public consultation supports the idea of functioning capacity booking platforms to make booking procedures faster and more convenient.
According to the analysis, these platforms facilitate cross border trade of gas, contributing to the advancement of the integration of the energy markets.
‘Aspects named as fundamental to booking platforms include: the reliability of the platform (from an IT point of view), transparency of the information provided including data on past and future auctions, results of auctions, deadlines and procedures/processes. Also user-friendliness and transparent general terms and conditions (GTs&Cs) are among the fundamental aspects. Broadly the same aspects were cited with regard to usability.’
