Evergen sets record single day, monthly RNG production records

Vancouver-based renewable natural gas (RNG) developer Evergen Infrastructure said March 5 it had achieved daily and monthly RNG production records at its recently-expanded Fraser Valley Biogas facility.

In the wake of the commissioning of new feedstock process and biogas upgrading systems, Fraser Valley Biogas set a daily production record of 450 GJs and a monthly production record of 9,716 GJs. Both marks were set prior to the commissioning and ramp up of a third digester earlier this month.

“The successful ramp-up and record-breaking gas production at our Fraser Valley Biogas facility highlights our operations team’s ability to deliver on core projects,” EverGen CEO Mischa Zajtmann said. “Our efforts have translated into tangible results as we expect the facility to exceed its name plate capacity of 160,000 GJs/year once fully ramped up.”

Fraser Valley Biogas was the first RNG production facility in western Canada and the first to inject RNG into the FortisBC natural gas network. The facility combines anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading to produce RNG, converting agricultural waste from local dairy farms and also producing an organic liquid fertiliser that is used by surrounding farms to displace synthetic fertilisers.
