Evol LNG to supply LNG to West Aussie gold miner

Evol LNG, a unit of Perth-based Kleenheat, has secured a long-term supply agreement with gold explorer Aurenne to supply approximately 10,000 metric tons/year of LNG to its Mt Ida gold project in Western Australia, the company announced on June 19.

The Mt Ida project, located northeast of Menzies, has recently completed the construction of a new processing plant with a capacity of 1.2mn mt/yr and a 12 MW gas-fired power station. Evol LNG's LNG supply will be used as an alternative to diesel fuel, reducing the project's power station emissions.

According to Evol LNG manager Josh Phillips, Aurenne's decision to fuel their power station with LNG will result in a significant reduction of over 8,000 mt/yr of greenhouse gas emissions.

The LNG supplied by Evol LNG will be produced at Kleenheat's Kwinana LNG plant, which has a daily production capacity of 250 mt. It will then be transported to Mt Ida using intermodal ISO tank containers, which are transported by rail between Kwinana and Kalgoorlie. The final leg of the journey to Mt Ida's power station will be completed by triple road trains.

Evol LNG has also commissioned an on-site LNG storage and vaporisation facility at the Mt Ida project. The company will own, operate, and maintain the facility.
