Exoma Strikes Gas in Queensland
Exoma Energy has reported striking gas in the Bessies-1 shale well on ATP 999P in Eromanga basin onshore Queensland.
The initial analysis of the find revealed it was naturally occurring as the well had reached a total depth of 985 metres and intersected about 40 metres of the primary Toolebuc shale, over an interval between 883 to 923 metres, with gas shows.
Expressing satisfaction over the early result, Exoma chairman Brian Barker said that the well recovered a small quantity of free liquid hydrocarbons and had gas shows from the overlying shale formation.
The drilling rig Atlas-1 had already been moved and spudded the Euston-1 shale well in the same permit. Euston-1 will be drilled to a total depth of 670 metres, targetting the Toolebuc formation.
Exoma has a 50% stake in ATP 999P with China National Offshore Oil Corporation having the balance participating interest through a farm-in which will see it fund the initial A $50 million (US $51.9 million) of joint venture expenditures on ATP’s 991, 996, 999, 1005 and 1008.
