ExxonMobil picks new low-carbon head

ExxonMobil announced on March 22 it had appointed Dan Ammann president of its low carbon solutions divisions following current head Joe Blommaert's decision to retire.

Ammann is a former president at General Motors and CEO of its autonomous vehicle subsidiary Cruise. He will take up the new role on May 1. Blommaert has led ExxonMobil's low carbon solutions since last year, but first joined ExxonMobil in 1988. Other roles he held include regional director for Europe and Asia Pacific chemical operations from 2014 and senior vice president of global chemical operations from 2019.

“We welcome Dan to ExxonMobil and will use his knowledge and experience to continue to build our Low Carbon Solutions business,” ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods said in a statement.  “I thank Joe for his contributions to the company’s success and the significant progress made in developing our lower-emissions business. I wish Joe all the best in retirement.”
