FT: Fears on gas supplies played down
Ed Davey, the energy secretary, has urged people not to panic about speculation that the UK is running out of gas as the cold snap puts pressure on energy supplies.
“I don’t think people should be worried in the slightest,” Mr Davey told reporters on Tuesday, adding that he was nonetheless monitoring the situation “very closely”.
The secretary was responding to media reports that people had turned up their heating so much in the unseasonably freezing weather that gas might have to be rationed because there was so little in storage. MORE
