Fincantieri to build three LNG-powered cruise ships for Carnival Corp

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has signed an agreement with US-based Carnival Corporation to design, engineer, and construct three LNG-powered cruise ships for the Carnival Cruise Line brand, the company announced on July 23.

The new vessels, each approximately 230,000 gross tonnes, will be the largest ships ever built by Fincantieri and an Italian shipyard. The delivery schedule for these ships is set for 2029, 2031, and 2033. While Fincantieri did not disclose the financial details of the agreement, the company emphasised that it is "considered very important."

Each of the new ships will feature over 3,000 guest cabins and will be able to carry almost 8,000 passengers at full capacity. These ships will incorporate advanced energy efficiency, waste management, and emission reduction technologies aimed at minimising the environmental footprint of Carnival Cruise Line's fleet, the company said.
