Fiscal Incentives for Alternative Energy Investors - Indonesia
Indonesia reiterated its promise to provide fiscal incentives to companies investing in alternative energy sources such as coal-bed methane.
The government needs to boost investment in such alternatives to meet rising energy demand following impressive economic growth in recent years, according to Indonesian Energy Minister Darwin Zahedy Saleh.
"In a bid to encourage more investment, the government will consider providing incentives” the minister said at the Indonesia-United States (U.S.) Energy Investment Roundtable (EIR) meeting in Jakarta.
Details however were not provided.
Evita Legowo, oil and gas director general at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, told reporters that the government is discussing the provision of income tax relief as an incentive.
