Fluor completes module fabrication on LNG Canada project

Engineering company Fluor Corporation on July 18 announced the completion of the module fabrication program on the LNG Canada project.

The completion of the module fabrication program is a crucial phase in the overall development of the LNG Canada project. Fluor, in partnership with JGC Corporation, is responsible for various aspects of the project, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, delivery of modules, as well as the construction of infrastructure, utilities, marine structures, and LNG storage tanks.

The module fabrication program involved the construction of modules at Fluor's fabrication yard in Zhuhai, China. These modules were then transported to the project site in Kitimat. The first major module, which stood at 145 feet tall and weighed over 5,000 metric tons, arrived in March 2022. In total, 215 modules of varying sizes have been received and set at the site, with the final module delivered recently.

LNG Canada is a joint venture involving Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Korea Gas Corporation. The project is designed to have an initial capacity to produce 14mn metric tons/year. The first shipment of LNG is scheduled for the mid-decade.
