Fortum Postpones Annual Meeting
Finnish utility Fortum announced a last-minute postponement of its planned annual general meeting, due to take place March 17, following a government announcement March 16 that public gatherings would be limited to a maximum of ten persons.
Among the items on the agenda would have been the consolidation of Germany utility Uniper as a Finnish subsidiary: all the approvals needed are in place for closure of the deal.
"Fortum takes the threat of the coronavirus seriously and has, based on the development of the situation and the announcement by the Finnish government today, decided to cancel tomorrow’s Annual General Meeting," it said at 18.3o local time.
Fortum’s board decided on the postponement even though, as a state company, the annual general meeting is not a public gathering.
