Lancashire Evening Post: ‘Fracking’ firm wants to carry on drilling

The company behind drilling which led to earth tremors has said it wants to step up its work on Lancashire farmland.

Cuadrilla Resources, which is behind controversial hydraulic fracturing work which caused two tremors near Blackpool last year, has confirmed it wants to ‘frack’ a well on its site near Hesketh Bank.

It has applied to Lancashire County Council to extend its licence to carry out work on the site for a further two-and-a-half years.

On Wednesday, the company said the extension would allow it to look at the amount of natural gas locked in rock under the farmland, close to salad-growing fields in West Lancashire.  MORE
