How much of the UK is affected?

About 7,300 square miles of the UK is already covered by more than 170 existing oil and gas exploration licences. The Goverment has announced 27 new licences and is consulting on plans is to award 132 more. Each licence area spans about 100 sq km (40 sq miles).
